Boat types and guest limits

Vancouver rentals in the table include pontoons, yachts and party boats. The prices come from two charter operators, SeaSky Cruises and Dream Yacht Charters Vancouver, rather than platform listings.

The pontoon with a stated capacity allows 8 guests. One yacht listing gives a length of 60 feet; another, priced per guest, is for a group of 10. Listed party boats are 65–85 feet long. Ask for the exact vessel's capacity and dimensions before choosing it for your group.

Captain service is included in every pontoon and party-boat price shown, but only some yacht prices explicitly include it. SeaSky Cruises says all its private charters are captain-operated, making those charters the wrong choice if you want to drive.

What the listed prices cover

The pontoon median is CA$996 for 4 hours and CA$1,992 for 8 hours; its hourly rates are CA$249–CA$269 per hour. The table contains 3 pontoon prices from 1 operator, 3 yacht prices from 2 operators and 2 party-boat prices from 1 operator, as checked on Oct 14, 2026. These are operators' published rates, not platform listing prices.

Yacht entries include CA$1,720 and CA$2,400 for 4 hours, while party-boat entries are CA$2,920 and CA$4,160 for 4 hours. These small sets are individual prices, not a broad market median. Starting prices appear among the pontoon, yacht, and party-boat entries, so your dated quote can be higher.

Some pontoon hourly rates require a 2-hour booking, and some yacht rates require 2–3 hours. Captain and fuel are included in all pontoon and party-boat entries; some yacht entries include both, while others leave them unstated.

Listed security deposits are CA$300 for pontoons. Separately, SeaSky Cruises requires a CA$300 booking deposit and adds 5% GST to its listed prices upon confirmation; ask how booking and security deposits differ in your contract. SeaSky includes fuel in hourly and single-day rates but quotes multiday fuel separately. Use the calculator for your group total, and ask about gratuity and any other charges before paying.

Rental checklist and local water rules

Transport Canada allows renters to operate without a Pleasure Craft Operator Card when they have a completed Rental Boat Safety Checklist, valid only for the rental period. Its general rule requires proof of competency for anyone operating a power-driven recreational boat, including electric-powered boats. Read Canada's boat license and rental checklist rules and confirm the applicable requirements with Transport Canada.

The City of Vancouver states that False Creek has a speed limit of 10 km/h, also given as 5 knots, enforced by city and port authorities. It also requires immediate reporting of oil, fuel, or hazardous-material spills to the Canada Coast Guard at 1-800-889-8852. Ask your operator to explain the permitted route, no-wake areas, and any inspection requirements before departure.

SeaSky Cruises provides a Transport Canada certified captain and says renters do not need a boating license for its captain-operated charters. Its company policy allows BYOB on most vessels for guests 19 years and older, but alcohol on the 85-foot Event Boat requires advance arrangements through SeaSky. This guest policy is separate from operating requirements; ask the relevant agency about boating-under-the-influence rules and keep the operator sober.

Year-round rentals and peak pricing

Vancouver operators in the table rent year-round, and SeaSky Cruises explicitly offers year-round charters. Rental searches peak in May, June, July, and August according to Ahrefs search-demand figures, rather than booking totals.

SeaSky publishes weekday and peak pricing tiers. Its weekday tier covers Monday–Thursday and Friday before 5:00 PM; its peak tier covers Friday after 5:00 PM, weekends, and BC public holidays. Compare the rate for your actual departure time rather than assuming every hourly quote applies.

SeaSky says unsuitable or unsafe conditions lead to contact and rescheduling options. Let the captain or operator decide whether conditions permit departure, and ask about weather rescheduling terms before paying.

Departure marinas and docks

SeaSky Cruises names Plaza of Nations Marina and Granville Island as boarding locations, depending on the vessel. Its pontoon charters depart from SeaSky Cruises – Dock A near BC Place.

Royal Vancouver Yacht Club names Jericho Marina and Coal Harbour Marina as departure points. Granville Island Boat Rentals names its Granville Island Boat Rentals departure location. Have your booking confirmation identify the exact dock rather than choosing a meeting point from the marina name alone.

Direct bookings or platform listings

Local operators set their own rates, captain arrangements, and fuel policies, while booking platforms list boats from many owners and add their own service fees and policies. A direct quote lets you check the operator's package against the table above. A platform quote needs a separate check of the owner's terms and the platform's charges.

If you do not want to drive, SeaSky's captain-operated charters provide that option without a self-drive booking. Read how renting with a captain works before comparing inclusions, and use the day-yacht rental cost guide when weighing a yacht against a smaller boat.
