What a yacht rental covers and extra fees
Most published yacht rental prices include a captain. Of 86 prices in the table, 66 state the captain is included, 4 offer one as an option and 3 charge for the captain on top; where a fee is listed, it is $100 per hour.
Fuel terms are often unclear: 76 of 86 prices do not state whether fuel is included. Nine list fuel as included and one charges a flat fuel fee.
Deposits are rarely published, so ask the operator whether a deposit or card authorization is taken at booking and when it is released.
Tips are generally extra. Tipping guides put the captain’s tip at 10% to 20% of the charter fee; crew tips may add 5% to 15%.
Ask operators if cleaning fees or other additional costs apply before you compare totals.

When a yacht rental may not suit you
If your group is small and cost per person matters, a yacht may cost more than smaller boats or pontoons. Hourly rates in the table run from $250 to $1,600 per hour.
If you want to drive the boat yourself, a yacht is the wrong pick: most yacht rentals include a captain.
For short trips or casual fishing mornings, a smaller boat or a fishing charter may fit better.
Large yachts burn a lot of fuel—50 to over 100 gallons per hour depending on size and speed—so ask how fuel is charged.

- Small groups and tight budgets might prefer smaller boats
- Most rentals include a captain
- Not the obvious choice for very short trips or simple fishing outings
- High fuel use on large yachts can add to costs
