For longer sailboat rentals, the median is $650 for 4 hours and $1,300 for 8 hours. Each duration has only 4 prices: the full ranges are $440–$1,700 for 4 hours and $880–$3,400 for 8 hours. These are full price ranges, not middle-half ranges.
A captain is included in all 12 published prices. That makes these listings mainly a comparison of captained trips, rather than boats you take out yourself. Use the guide to renting with a captain to plan what to ask before booking.
Fuel is explicitly included in 2 prices, while 10 do not state whether it is included. Ask for a written total covering fuel, cleaning and any other fees before comparing offers. Also ask whether a deposit is required, when it is released and what deductions the operator can make.
A starting price is not a confirmed quote: 3 of the 12 prices are marked “from,” so your date can cost more. Empire Cruises describes a captain tip of 10–20% of the charter fee as customary; ask your operator whether gratuity is already included. Use the calculator to compare your quoted total, rather than just the advertised rental amount.
Listed sailboats range from 31 to 50 feet in length, and listed guest limits run from 6 to 28 people. Length is stated in 3 listings and capacity in 10, so check the limit on the particular boat you want. The boat capacity guide explains what to confirm before organizing your group.
The table above compares sailboat rentals for 2, 4 and 8 hours. Choose the duration you need before comparing totals, and ask what time boarding and return occur. An hourly rate alone does not tell you the total for your planned trip.
Sailboat prices are listed for New York City, San Diego, Fort Lauderdale and Key West. New York City has 6 published prices from 3 operators; the other places have few prices, with 3 in San Diego, 2 in Fort Lauderdale and 1 in Key West. Use boat rental prices by city and lake to compare your departure area with other places.
These sailboat listings are the wrong starting point if you want a boat you sail yourself: every published price in the table includes a captain. The one 28-guest listing is a sunset sail sold per seat, not a private boat.
A listing limited to 6 guests will not suit a larger group, even if its price looks attractive. Compare another boat type if its stated capacity or captain arrangement fits your plans more closely.
